Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) recently approved a $268.3 million operating and $118.5 million capital budget for 2007.
The operating budget includes funds to add 25 service employees and expand service to Steelyard Commons and park-and-ride lots. The capital budget provides funds to continue rehabilitating passenger cars, and remodeling the Lee-Van Aken and Woodhill stations.
However, GCRTA expects expenses to exceed revenue next year. So, the agency will need to either obtain additional funding, reduce costs or decrease service in 2008.
