Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Florida Department of Transportation recently awarded a three-year contract to HNTB Corp. to provide engineering and inspection services for the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) project.
To be located just east of Miami International Airport (MIA), the facility will enable passengers to transfer from the airport to Miami-Dade Transit’s Metrorail system, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority’s commuter-rail system, buses and taxis.
HNTB will oversee several components of the project, including construction of the MIC Central Station and MIC/MIA Connector Station. Construction on the $400 million intermodal center is expected to begin later this month and be complete in 2010.
