Last week, Florida East Coast Railway L.L.C. (FECR) named James Hertwig president and chief executive officer, effective July 1. He will succeed David Rohal, who will continue to serve as a RailAmerica Inc. senior vice president and remain on FECR’s board of managers.

Hertwig most recently was president of CSX Intermodal, a position he held since June 2004. He will retire at June’s end and be succeeded by William Clement.

Hertwig previously was president and CEO of Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. and president of Landstar Logistics Inc. He currently serves as a board member for the University of Denver’s Intermodal Transportation Institute and the Intermodal Association of North America.

FECR operates 351 miles of mainline track between Jacksonville and Miami, and interchanges with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.
