On Tuesday, the National Transportation Safety Board swore in its newest member, Kathryn O'Leary Higgins. Her term expires Dec. 31, 2009.
Most recently president and chief executive officer of TATC Consulting, Higgins previously served as vice president for public policy for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor, acting chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, vice chairman of the Presidential Commission on U.S. Coast Guard Roles and Missions, and chief of staff for the U.S. secretary of labor.
During a stint at the White House, she served as assistant to the president and secretary to the Cabinet. Higgins also previously held the position of assistant director for employment policy for the White House Domestic Policy Council.
