Houston METRO breaks ground on light-rail line

Last week, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) broke ground on the first of five light-rail lines included in the METRO Solutions Phase 2 program, which calls for adding 30 miles of light-rail service in Houston.
The four-mile East End Corridor will run from the Magnolia Transit Center to downtown Houston. The East End’s last portion of track will be shared will the Southeast Line, which will take passengers to the University of Houston main campus and Palm Center. East End riders also will be able to transfer to the existing Red Line at Main Street.
