Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) is taking steps to improve pedestrian safety along the METRORail system.
The agency recently began replacing 480 pedestrian traffic signals with countdown signals, and pedestrian push buttons with buttons that flash a red light and beep to acknowledge the request for a walk sign.
METRO officials expect the upgraded signals to last longer, be more reliable, and more resistant to vandalism and weather changes.
