For the third-consecutive year, the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, Texas (METRO) has set a safety record, reporting its lowest-ever number of accidents.
During fiscal-year 2004, the agency recorded .83 accidents per 100,000 revenue miles, down from .89 in FY2003.
METRO recently contracted Booz Allen & Hamilton Inc. to audit its Transit Operations Department to review practices and recommend improvements.
