International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) System Council No. 11 Oct. 3 ratified a four-year labor agreement with Canadian Pacific Railway.
The contract — extending through Dec. 31, 2004 — calls for wage increases, a long-term disability plan, classification improvements and several other improved benefits for CPR's 500 IBEW-represented signal and communications systems workers.
A substantial majority of IBEW members approved the deal, said IBEW System General Chairman Kevin Kearns in a prepared statement.
The agreement also will establish Integrated Maintenance Units, enabling union-member employees to have greater control over their work at the railroad.
