ITI sets 2003 dates for second intermodal transportation summit

University of Denver’s Intermodal Transportation Institute (ITI) July 29 announced that its Second North American Intermodal Transportation Summit will be held April 8-9, 2003, at the University of Denver.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, Mexico Secretary of Communications and Transportation Pedro Cerisola y Weber, Canada Minister of Transport, David Collenette, senior North American transportation executives and officials of the three governments will participate in panel presentations to discuss North America's increasing shortage of highway, airport, seaport and rail capacity, and what the three governments plan to do to address border efficiency and security, open borders and various trade issues.

ITI in January postponed the second summit (the first was held in 1997) to spring 2003 because of scheduling problems associated with a spring 2002 date.

The institute last year scheduled its second summit for October 18-19, 2001, but in September postponed that meeting because of Sept. 11 and to give the organization time to adjust the agenda to include discussions on security stemming from recent terrorism.

For more information, call Lynette Dilbeck at 303-671-0505 or ITI at 303-871-4702, or go online at www.du.edu/transportation/summit.
