Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co. (IHB) March 7 restructured its commercial development department, appointing John Szamatowicz to the newly created position of senior manager, business development.
Szamatowicz, who since 1989 has served as manager of marketing and industrial development, will be responsible for commercial and industrial development, and will report to Comptoller Derek Smith.
Prior to joining IHB, Szamatowicz for 18 years served Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in various marketing and accounting positions.
IHB also named Paula Wratten and Leo Pauwels account executives, reporting to Szamatowicz.
Hammond, Ind.-based IHB serves 16 Chicago-area railroads as a switch carrier, operating 54 miles of mainline track (including 24 miles of double track), and 266 miles of yard and siding track.
