Indiana Harbor Belt garners new GM, comptroller

Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co. (IHB) in mid-January named Gary Gibson general manager, replacing Charles Allen who retired in December, and Derek Smith, comptroller.
Gibson, who began his new position Jan. 21, previously served as manager of CSX Transportation's northern region and vice president of risk management for Canadian National Railway Co.
Smith, who will serve as comptroller beginning Feb. 14, previously served as assistant vice president-audit for CSX Corp., and held numerous positions in finance and auditing for several companies.
Hammond, Ind.-based IHB serves 16 Chicago-area railroads as a switch carrier, operating 54 miles of mainline track (including 24 miles of double track), and 266 miles of yard and siding track.
