The Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) recently awarded a $5.3 million contract to Rieth-Riley Construction to build hi-level platforms at Hegewisch Station.

The eight-car platforms will reduce station dwell time by enabling all train doors to open and passengers to board trains at floor level.

As part of the project, NICTD crews and contractors will install track, switches, signals and catenary.
