Intermodal service provider adds Seattle location

advertisement

Lynden Air Freight division Skytrack Oct. 26 added a Seattle terminal to the company's network of 11 intermodal consolidation centers.

Skytrack — which provides Union Pacific Railroad and Burlington Northern Santa Fe warehousing, and materials consolidation and distribution services — named District Operations Manager Allen Thorne and Operations Supervisor Matt Hawkins to head the new location.

Through its cross-dock consolidation and consignment inventory systems, Skytrack aims to save railroads money by minimizing rails' need to contract trucks for multiple less-than-truckload moves to facilities across the United States, and enabling railroads to position frequently-used materials closer to end users.
