Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) recently received an Export Achievement Certificate from the U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. The certificate recognizes TTCI for being an international leader in railroad technology research and development, security and testing.

Rep. Scott Tipton (R-Colo.) presented the certificate to TTCI officials during an international business program and workshop in Pueblo, Colo., on Feb. 24. The program included international trade experts from the federal government who aimed to assist small businesses with export opportunities.

TTCI officials are managing international projects for the ministry of railways in India and China, and Metro Sao Paulo and Vale in Brazil. The center has exported hardware products and provided expert consulting services to clients worldwide, including those in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Turkey, South Africa, Mauritania, Russia, Mexico and Canada.

The most successful exported hardware product is the Trackside Acoustic Detection System (TADS®), which is designed to identify defects in rail wheel roller bearings on passing trains, according to TTCI. Consulting services provided overseas have focused on the wheel/rail interface and vehicle dynamics, asset utilization and heavy axle load operations.
