The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking grant applications for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's fiscal-year 2022 Diesel Emission Reduction Program for diesel fleets in the state.

The program aims to achieve significant diesel emission reductions from on-road or non-road vehicles and equipment, including locomotives, marine engines, transit buses and trucks, nonroad vehicles and school buses.

A total of $884,780 is available, including a base grant amount of $353,912 and an EPA incentive bonus of $176,956. The state will match the base grant amount with funds from the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund settlement.

Applications are due Sept. 9.
