Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) recently named J.B. Hunt Transport Services and Schneider National Inc. co-recipients of the 2002 Intermodal Achievement Award, which recognizes an organization that's made a contribution to advancing intermodal.
J.B. Hunt earned $2.1 billion in revenue last year — $740 million coming from intermodal services. The trucking firm also recently modernized its container fleet, which now solely comprises 53-foot containers.
Schneider National earned $2.4 billion in 2001 revenue, including $500 million from its intermodal division. The trucking company operates a mode-neutral system based on customer requirements.
"J.B. Hunt and Schneider National built upon their proven transportation and logistic leadership positions by utilizing intermodal as a key component of their business portfolio," said IANA Chaiman George Baima in a prepared statement.
The awards were presented Nov. 19 at IANA's annual membership meeting and intermodal exposition in Anaheim, Calif.
