The United Kingdom’s Network Rail recently contracted Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. to design track switches and crossings for the London North-East and London North-West territories.

The consulting firm will provide project management, engineering and environmental services. Jacobs Engineering is one of five firms to obtain two-year design framework contracts from Network Rail.

Jacobs’ contract, which includes an optional one-year extension, is valued at $12 million.

Network Rail owns and operates the U.K.'s rail network, and maintains track, signaling systems, rail bridges, tunnels, level crossings, viaducts and stations.
