The city of Culver City, Calif., and Culver City Redevelopment Agency recently awarded a contract to urban planning and design firm Johnson Fain to create a development plan for the land surrounding a light-rail station that soon will be built by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The Washington/National station is one of eight being built by the authority as part of its 8.5-mile Exposition light-rail extension between Los Angeles and Culver City.
