advertisement
Johnstown America Corp. Feb. 7 delivered 280 BethGon® II aluminum coal-gondola cars to Consumers Energy Corp. in Jackson, Mich.
Although Joseph Transportation Services Inc. bought the cars, Johnstown America has been delivering the BethGon IIs to Consumers Energy over the past three months.
The utility over the past several years has acquired more than 1,800 coal cars from Johnstown America, which designs and builds coal, flat, mill-gondola and intermodal cars, as well as the AVC, the company's new aluminum motor-vehicle carrier.
BethGon IIs, manufactured at Johnstown America's Danville, Ill., plant, are high-capacity, 53-foot cars designed to carry loads up to 244,300 pounds and gross-rail loads up to 286,000 pounds.
