On Nov. 11, Johnstown America Corp. announced it recently delivered 200 aluminum AutoFlood II™ coal cars to American Coal Sales Co., which is leasing the cars from GE Capital Rail Services.
American Coal Sales plans to operate the 53-foot, 300,000-pound gross load cars as part of three 65-car trains serving two of the company's Ohio coal mines.
The cars will enable American Coal Sales to move more than 11 million tons of coal annually, said Christopher Newport, purchasing manager for American Coal Sales affiliate Coal Services Group, in a prepared statement.
AutoFlood II coal hoppers are designed to incorporate Johnstown America's MegaFlo™ automatic discharge system, which includes steep slope sheets and 50-inch door openings.
