Kansas City Southern Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mike Haverty recently received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the Central Midwest regional program's transportation category.

The award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are "building and leading dynamic, growing businesses," and excel in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, according to Ernst & Young L.L.P.

An independent panel of judges selected Haverty for the regional award. He now is eligible for consideration for the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 awards. National winners will be announced on Nov. 15.

Meanwhile, KCS on Friday announced it appointed Thomas Govreau assistant vice president of business solutions delivery. He will be responsible for information technology (IT) product development and delivery.

Govreau most recently was delivery executive for IBM, where he spent the past 13 years serving in various roles. He previously held IT positions with YRC Worldwide, Trans World Airlines and CONOCO.
