Kansas City Southern recently reopened PABFAC, a dry bulk-transfer facility in Port Arthur, Texas. Owned by KCS and adjacent to its Port Arthur yard, the 70-acre facility will be operated by Kinder Morgan Bulk Terminals.

PABFAC includes two side-by-side rail-car dump areas and four tracks with 48-car storage capacity, as well as storage space for an additional 150 cars in KCS' yard.

The Class I reopened the facility to create loading opportunities for soda ash and other dry bulk commodities, according to a prepared statement.

"The PABFAC reopening is a continuation of KCS' strategy to continually bring service offerings to the market that enhance our ability to provide … competitive transportation options," said Larry Stevenson, KCS senior vice president of marketing and sales.
