Kansas City Southern recently named Mike Chapman vice president of transportation as part of an operations department reorganization.
Responsible for field operations, KCS' System Transportation Center (STC) and network services, Chapman will report to Senior Vice President of Operations Jerry Heavin.
Other executives directly reporting to Heavin include Ron Poulsen, vice president and chief engineer; Doug Sizemore, vice president and chief mechanical officer; Emerson Bouchard, vice president of labor relations; Tom Leopold, general director of safety and training; Dennis Marzec, general director of rules and testing; and Tom Campbell, director of operations support.
KCS also consolidated its Midcontinent and Transcontinental divisions, and promoted J.R. Thornell from general superintendent, Midcontinent Division, to general superintendent of field operations to head the combined division.
Mark Redd was named general superintendent of transportation to manage KCS' Shreveport, La., and Kansas City, Mo., terminals and the STC, which houses dispatching, crew-management, locomotive-utilization and help-desk functions.
"The reorganization more closely links the STC to the terminals and to field operations to better focus on service to customers, streamline processes and improve communications," said Heavin in a prepared statement.
