KCS to build bigger plastic-transloading center in Kansas City

In June, Kansas City Southern plans to begin building a 10-acre plastics Transload Center (TLC) at Coburg Yard in Kansas City, Mo.
Designed for future expansion, the facility would enable the railroad to provide customers with better highway access and improved switching capabilities.
The TLC will include storage space for 90 cars, 80 unloading spots, fencing, lighting, pavement, a truck scale and filtered drainage system.
KCS expects to close its 65-car-capacity plastics TLC — which opened in the 1980s in downtown Kansas City — when the new facility opens in September.
