KCS to crank-up LRC use by year-end
advertisement
Kansas City Southern Jan. 15 announced plans to take delivery this year of 50 BELTPACK® locomotive remote-control (LRC) units from CANAC Inc.
In addition to supplying the LRC units, CANAC would provide KCS specialized software, a Web-based training support system, and training programs for operators and supervisors.
"KCS is eagerly anticipating the effects that BELTPACKS will have in preventing accidents and injuries," said Ab Rees, KCS senior vice president-operations, in a prepared statement.
CANAC officials believe KCS’ order would make the Class I the largest BELTPACK user among U.S. railroads.
CSX Transportation in mid-December ordered 100 LRCs from Cattron-Theimeg Inc.
