On April 1, Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) plans to roll out divisional safety action plans and implement a new Operations Testing System (OTS) to enhance employees’ awareness of and compliance with operating rules.

The railroad customized action plans for each division based on past trends and specific safety concerns. The OTS will serve as a central repository for KCSM’s operating rules data so managers can detect trends. An OTS committee is preparing a timeline for training managers on the system and conducting field tests.

“We are optimistic that the new divisional safety plans and Operations Testing System will be embraced by our operating leaders and team members as a way to continually improve the safety of our operation,” said KCSM Superintendent of General Transportation Daniel Torres in an item posted on the “KCS News” Web page.
