KCSR becomes third U.S. railroad to obtain Responsible Care Management System certification
advertisement
Yesterday, Kansas City Southern announced its subsidiary The Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) has achieved Responsible Care® Management System (RCMS) certification — the third U.S. railroad to do so.
KCSR has been a Responsible Care® partner company since 1999. In 2002, the American Chemistry Council adopted RCMS for implementing Responsible Care® in the United States. RCMS provides a structured framework for assessing needs, setting specific performance goals and sharing information with employees, contractors and the public. The system sets requirements for policy and leadership; planning; implementation; operation and accountability; performance measurement and corrective action; and management system review.
Certification requires an independent, third-party verification process. KCSR achieved RCMS certification by formalizing its health, safety, security and environmental management system, KCS said.
