Kansas City Southern Railway Co.’s (KCSR) New Orleans TransLoad Center (TLC) is handling materials for a major levee reinforcement project. The facility is transloading steel sheet piling that will be used to reinforce the city’s levees.

L.B. Foster Co. and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are supervising the transloading operations, which began in December and are scheduled to be complete by the start of the hurricane season on June 1.

The TLC also will transload reconstruction materials, such as lumber, plywood and shingles, for a nearby warehouse, as well as demolition debris headed to landfills throughout Louisiana.

Through its TLC network, KCSR partners with logistics, trucking and warehousing firms to provide distribution and consolidation services. The facilites offer a single-bill, door-to-door service package including rail, trucking and warehousing services.
