The Watco Cos. Inc. recently received the 2005 Kansas Governor’s Award of Excellence.
Out of 274 Kansas companies nominated, Watco was one of five finalists for the award, which recognizes a business that makes significant contributions to local communities and the state.
Watco was honored for supporting local schools, and donating labor and train rides for various community events. The Pittsburg, Kan.-based company owns 12 short lines operating in 19 states.
