advertisement
The Canadian government recently announced it will provide $2.8 million to the Keewatin Railway Co. to fund equipment purchases, track rehabilitation and bridge re-decking.
Jointly owned by three Manitoba First Nations groups, the Keewatin Railway operates passenger- and freight-rail service between The Pas and Pukatawagan, Manitoba.
Since 2005, the government has provided funds for the railroad through Transport Canada's Regional and Remote Passenger Rail Services Class Contribution Program.
