Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems recently obtained braking system orders totaling $327.5 million from China's Shanghai Metro for 1,490 locomotives and 40 high-speed trains. Deliveries will commence in October and conclude in mid-2011.

The 16-car trains and locomotives will be used on suburban and mainline segments. The orders will total about 600 cars.

Knorr-Bremse now offers a full portfolio of rail vehicle products in China, including braking systems, doors, and air-conditioning and electrical components. Dalian Locomotive Works recently ordered brake control systems for 360 locomotives, complete braking systems for 50 locomotives and 500 systems for six-axle locomotives. Knorr-Bremse also received an order from Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Works for brake control and bogie equipment for 580 locomotives.
