Last week, Koppers Inc. ceased production at its crosstie treating plant located in Superior, Wis.
The wood tie supplier is closing the plant to reduce production costs and increase operating efficiencies. The plant’s sales and production functions will be transferred to other wood treating facilities.
Because of the closure, Koppers will incur severance charges of about $400,000 in the second quarter.
