Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Yesterday, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) released the Final Environmental Impact Statement/Report for the proposed Exposition light-rail extension. The report will be available for public review during three open houses to be held next month.
LA MTA still needs to obtain environmental clearance from the Federal Transit Administration to start the project. The authority plans to begin construction on the line in early 2006 and complete the project in June 2010.
The $640 million, nine-mile extension would run between downtown Los Angeles and Culver City, and include eight stations. LA MTA is considering a future extension to Santa Monica.
