Last week, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved $315 million in State Transportation Improvement Program funds for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Exposition light-rail line.

The $640 million project will be funded through a variety of local and federal dollars. In March, CTC allocated $208 million in Traffic Congestion Relief Program funds for the extension.

Construction on the 8.5-mile extension is scheduled to begin in summer. Running between L.A. and Culver City, the eight-station line could include a future extension to Santa Monica.
