Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Last week, the California Transportation Commission (CTC) approved allocating $208 million in Traffic Congestion Relief Program funds for Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (LA MTA) Exposition light-rail line.
The authority has requested the CTC allocate an additional $315 million from L.A. County’s share of 2006 State Transportation Improvement funds. The commission is expected to review the request at its April 27 meeting.
Construction on the $640 million Exposition light-rail project is scheduled to begin in summer. The 8.5-mile, eight-station line that will run between L.A. and Culver City could include a future extension to Santa Monica.
