Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) board recently approved allocating funds to conduct two studies.
The authority will spend $250,000 to determine the feasibility of using self-propelled diesel multiple unit cars on rail lines.
LA MTA also will spend $150,000 to analyze a regional connector to link the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys. The line would run through the cities of Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and parts of Los Angeles to connect the Metro Red Line and/or Metro Orange Line in North Hollywood with the Metro Gold Line in Pasadena.
