LACMTA seeks voter approval of half-cent sales tax measure
advertisement
Last week, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed AB2321, enabling the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to place a half-cent sales tax increase measure on the Nov. 4 ballot. The tax increase would help cover the cost of new transportation projects and accelerate those already in the pipeline.
The measure is expected to provide $40 billion over a 30-year period for traffic congestion relief projects, including rail and bus expansions, commuter-rail upgrades, street and highway improvements, and other transportation projects.
