L.B. Foster Co. is getting ready to build a concrete tie manufacturing plant in Tucson, Ariz. The company and its CXT Inc. subsidiary recently obtained all necessary building permits for the plant, which is expected to be commissioned in summer.

The supplier already operates plants in Grand Island, Neb., and Spokane, Wash., to produce prestressed concrete ties for heavy-haul mainlines, high-speed commuter and light-rail lines, and industrial track. The Tucson plant will feature “Grimbergen” long-line concrete tie manufacturing equipment.

"Our new facility will provide the capacity required to meet the growing demand for concrete ties throughout North America,” said L.B. Foster President and Chief Executive Officer Stan Hasselbusch in a prepared statement.
