L.B. Foster to turn Colorado rocket parts facility into rail component plant

On Friday, L.B. Foster Co. announced it purchased a former Boeing Delta III rocket parts facility in Pueblo, Colo., and will use the 55,000-square-foot plant to produce insulated rail joints and assemble Electro 20 lubricators.

The company — which supplies products to the transportation, construction, utility and energy industries — expects to install equipment and commission the facility in March 2006. The rail joints are produced from insulated steel bars epoxy bonded to rail; track-mounted Electro 20 lubricators are designed to minimize rail friction and extend rail life.

“This location and our expanded capacity will best serve our rail clients’ needs," said L.B. Foster President and Chief Executive Officer Stan Hasselbusch in a prepared statement.
