The New York State Public Transportation Safety Board recently awarded MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) the first-ever Senator Norman J. Levy Public Transportation Safety Award.
The award recognizes LIRR’s grade crossing safety program, which the agency provides for schools, community groups and professional drivers. As part of its T.R.A.C.K.S. (Together Railroads and Communities Keeping Safe) program, the railroad conducts safety presentations tailored to various audiences and offers a crossing safety public service video.
