Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
On Jan. 1, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) plans to introduce revised fares designed to simplify the authority’s fare structure.
Senior citizen, student and disabled fares will remain the same, and the one-way cash fare would decrease from $1.35 to $1.25, but other fares — such as the weekly, semi-monthly and monthly passes — will increase. LA MTA also plans to introduce a Metro Day Pass, which would provide unlimited local travel.
The fare increases are the authority’s first in nine years, according to a prepared statement.
