The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) recently named Dwight Ferrell deputy general manager/chief operating officer and Theodore Basta Jr., chief of business support services.

With 28 years of transit experience, Ferrell has served as executive vice president and COO of Capital Metro in Austin, Texas, since 2004. He was responsible for overseeing operations, maintenance, safety and security for the agency’s bus, paratransit and freight-rail services. Ferrell also helped develop the agency’s commuter-rail system, which is scheduled to open in fall.

For the past 34 years, Basta has served New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority, most recently as VP of operations support. He was responsible for overseeing administrative and technical support services for the surface transit department.
