advertisement
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) recently elected Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Beverly Scott as chairman.
She will oversee the operations of the national organization, which has more than 1,500 members. One of the biggest issues she'll address: the reauthorization of federal funding for public transportation, APTA said. Congress is expected to consider a new surface transportation authorization bill in its upcoming session.
With more than 30 years' transit industry experience, Scott joined MARTA in October 2007. She previously served as GM of the Sacramento Regional Transit District.
