Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Yesterday, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) opened the Super Station at North Station.
The $111 million project included relocating the Green Line underground to connect the Orange and Green line train platforms at one level and enable passengers to more easily transfer between the lines. The project also included adding four elevators and 10 escalators.
After the late-July Democratic National Convention, construction crews will begin demolishing the elevated Green Line tracks above Causeway Street.
The station rehabilitation is part of MBTA’s plan to modernize its system. The authority also is building new stations at Charles Circle/Mass. General Hospital, Shawmut Avenue, Fields Corner and Savin Hill.
