Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) recently granted a 15-year license to InSite Wireless to install, operate and maintain an underground neutral wireless communication network within the authority’s subway system.
InSite Wireless will install the system in phases, beginning with the Park Street, Downtown Crossing, Government Center and State Street station platforms, and the tunnels connecting those stations.
The system is designed to enable subway passengers to use wireless voice and data devices, including cell phones and hand-held computers.
