Today, the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) announced it appointed Cliff Mackay president and chief executive officer, effective May 1.

Most recently president of the Air Transport Association of Canada and board member of NAV Canada, Mackay previously held a senior executive position in the aerospace industry and various leadership positions with the Canadian federal government during the past 20 years.

Bruce Burrows has served as acting president and CEO since July 2004, when former President and CEO Bill Rowat retired from the RAC. Burrows previously served the association as vice president of public affairs and government relations.

The RAC represents the interests of 58 freight and passenger railroads in Canada.
