The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) recently purchased a Mobile Command Communications Vehicle, which will be used by transit police officers during emergencies.
The mobile home-size vehicle features a video surveillance system, satellite interface and state-of-the art communications technology that can link to all radio and telephone systems, enabling MTA police to communicate quickly with local, state and federal first responders. The vehicle also features a Wireless Interoperable Network Solutions system developed by ARINC.
The $1.25 million vehicle was funded in part through a $1 million U.S. Department of Homeland Security enhanced surveillance grant.
