On Oct. 5, Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) plans to close a portion of its light-rail line to begin a 9.4-mile double-track project.
During the closure, light-rail service will not be available to the Patapsco, Cherry Hill, Westport or Camden yard stops until Oct. 24. Instead, designated light-rail shuttle buses will take riders to stops that aren’t being served by trains. The trains will take passengers as far as the last open stop; then passengers will board a shuttle bus to get to the closed stops.
MTA plans to close portions of the light-rail lines during the next few years to complete the project. Once complete, delays at single-track sections will be eliminated and MTA crews will have better access to perform maintenance, according to a prepared statement.
