Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
After almost two-and-a-half years of construction, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) has completed a light-rail double-tracking project. On Sunday, the agency will resume service to Hunt Valley, where MTA added a second track as part of the project’s final phase.
The administration will re-open stations at Gilroad, McCormick and Pepper roads, and Hunt Valley Towne Centre.
Now, 90 percent or 9.4 miles of MTA’s system is double-tracked, enabling the agency to increase service reliability and decrease headways.
