A transportation "leadership forum" comprising leaders from New England states and Eastern Canada will be held Oct. 11 at the Omni Parker House in Boston.

Chaired by Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray, the event features a keynote from former Massachussetts Gov. Michael Dukakis and presentations from a range of invited railroad executives, legislative officials and infrastructure experts. The forum was "assembled by the National Corridors Initiative (NCI)" at Murray's request," according to NCI.

The day-long event starts at 7:45 a.m. with a blue-ribbon panel comprising various regional leaders, including Rhode Island Economic Policy Council Executive Director Kip Bergstrom. Other speakers include Vermont Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie, Connecticut State Senate President Don Williams, Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority Executive Director Patricia Quinn, and Amtrak Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development Anne Witt.

"It is time for us — indeed, past time — to work more closely together on those regional transportation/infrastructure solutions that will help us all, individually and collectively, compete in increasingly challenging world markets," Murray said in a prepared statement.
